(DES MOINES) -- Today, Iowa House Republicans voted to approve the second redistricting plan drafted by the nonpartisan legislative services agency. Speaker of the Iowa House Pat Grassley (R-New Hartford) released the following statement in response:

"Iowa's redistricting process has once again proven itself the gold standard and produced a nonpartisan, fair map for the people of Iowa. As is often the case, Democrats' repeated accusations of Republicans' intention to gerrymander have proved to be nothing more than fearmongering. Iowa House Republicans followed the process and delivered a fair map for the people of Iowa just as we said we would.

I feel confident our caucus will continue to be successful under this map. We are the caucus that listens to Iowans in all parts of the state and delivers on exactly what we say we're going to do. Meanwhile, Democrats continue to move further to the Left and become increasingly out of touch with Iowans. Iowans have elected us to represent 97 out of Iowa's 99 counties and I believe they will continue to trust us with the majority in the Iowa House."
